Tribute to Brett Sproull

New Zealand Classic Sidecar Swinger Brett Sproull will be greatly missed on the tracks and circuits for the 2008 Classic Sidecar racing season and this tragic loss for Rider, John Blaymires on the Moto guzzi 950cc classic sidecar simply blew minds after an amazing days racing at the Wanganui Cemetery Circuit 2007 on Boxing Day.

Updates 2008

October 19th 2008

The 'Have a Go Day Experience' event was the Official appearance of the Classic Moto Guzzi sidecar 242 with rider John Blaymires. Tribute to Brett shot.

John had the Guzzi out on the track a couple weeks earlier for a first test ride and the final touches to the paint work with the new tribute signature for Brett which was personally put on the back of the sidecar by John.

242 was rather popular with the public to have a ride on the Guzzi and there may have been the odd one trying out for swinger if 242 is to return to racing in the future. There's no word as to when this might be although there  has been one swinger who could certainly make the next 242 swinger.

I'll show you how quick it can turn....watching!Holy cow thats fast.

Diane & John Blaymires, Sian Jones and Brigit Bell

This was a special day for 242 and for those that shared a tear, hugs and many miles of smiles for riding on 242. No one can replace a truly great swinger like Brett who was so passionate about this type of motorcycle racing and taken at a time that the 242 duo team were "moving up the food chain" as Brett simply put it.... was a tragic loss. United we Stand and the future of racing is always bright for 242. We hope everyone enjoyed their rides and the opportunity to experience swinging on the Classic Moto Guzzi.

Updates 2009

Cemetery Circuit 2008 ....was a time of intense emotions for family and friends sharing in the first anniversary of Brett Sproull on race day. The presentation of the "Brett Sproull Trophy" made by John Blaymires was won by the BMW Classic Sidecar ridden by Andy Scrivener and Swinger Steven Bryan. This Trophy is for the first short chair and swinger over the line at the Cemetery Circuit race day.

242 was not racing at this year's Cemetery Circuit event as everyone paid tribute to a great swinger from the sidelines instead. For me and many sidecar riders and swingers known to Brett certainly felt the same, it wasn't quite the same without 242 on the track giving them all a run for their money (burning some rubber) to the finish line. To find a new swinger could take time although this hasn't stopped John Blaymires passion to ride and turning up for a guest appearance at any one Classic Register meeting. There's definitely a good chance he could try going solo but we'll have to wait and see.
