This very old photograph has been kindly shared with permission on this website. This is a nice piece of Harley history in 1942 with Mr. R. Hanbury of Canada on his Harley-Davidson motorcycle.  The photograph was contributed by his son although I wasn't provided too much information at the time other than the fact it was an old military bike from this era. I did look amongst my photographs at the earlier Harley models and the closest match I could find is the 1940 Flathead WLA taken at the New Zealand 100th Anniversary Harley-Davidson Expo 2003.

This model was quite popular at the time of WW2.

Mr Hanbury is 77 years old today and still riding strong to enjoy the open roads with his riding buddies. Now this is what makes legends and although these Bikers might not be riding Harleys today, it's a tribute to their passion and the true meaning of Live to Ride.

I was kindly sent this newspaper article written by J.P Squire of the Okanagan Saturday (Canada), and a recent photo of Mr. Hanbury today. Some things never change and neither does that grin. Thank you very much for sharing with everyone this awesome slice of Harley History.
