 What Now?

North meets South and Attitude is Everything

The invitation to attend the SuperTruck event held at Timaru's International Motor Raceway was an opportunity that shows just how the South Island can put on an awesome two day event. This is the only race circuit in New Zealand that these SuperTrucks compete on and for safety reasons no ones allowed to be on the track. To watch these monster machines  from the sidelines is pure intimidation of thunder on four wheels.

The variety of car racing and continuous entertainment for all ages at this annual event certainly showed the North how it was done when it comes to the family atmosphere for spectator crowds. There was plenty going on and off the track.

For the NZ Sidecar Racing teams the turn out from the North Island was a show of hands for 11 of the 12 sidecars that arrived. Unfortunately one Sidecar team did take a nasty spill on the first days racing and one of the riders was hurt. Overall there was plenty of action happening out on the circuit and anything can happen on the day.

A big Thanks to Timaru International Motor Raceway Organiser Karen Paddon, the marshals at Checkpoint Five for an awesome day on the circuit and taking good care of our guest photographer from the North Island.

Three generations of Petrolheads at this marshal check point and it doesn't take long to learn a slice of the South Canterbury Car Club Racing History and the who's who guide to the best drivers on four wheels from the far South.
